How To Defrizz A Synthetic Lace Front Wig?

Synthetic lace front wigs are often chosen by wearers due to their versatility, various colors and affordable price compared with human hair wigs. However, synthetic wigs often get frizzy after many times of use and treating them the way we treat our real hair might not always work.

Here are our several methods to take frizz out of synthetic wigs.

1. Comb
Starting at the ends and moving toward the crown, use a wide-tooth comb to remove the frizz or small tangles. Be careful to gently and slowly brush out the wig.(www.itymahair.com) If there is a knot, put the comb away and de-frizz it with your fingers. We do not recommend using a fine-tooth comb or brushing the wig too much because that may increase hair static.

2. Steam
If frizziness is more excessive, go for a handheld garment steamer which can reduce frizz quite dramatically. Section the wig and blow the steamer on the section. Use a wide-tooth comb to pull the steam through. Repeat this a couple of times to totally remove the frizziness. Since a synthetic wig has a memory, it will go back to its original shape after you steam it.

3. Flat iron
For mild frizziness, use a hair straightener on the lowest setting to flat iron each section of the synthetic fibre. Repeat this severl times and remember to use a wide-tooth comb to guide the ceramic plates down the lengths.

4. Wash
Washing will bring your synthetic lace front wig back to life. Soak the wig(www.itymahair.com) in a sink with cool water and a gentle shampoo and swirl it around a bit. Rinse the wig under cool and clean water after a few minutes. Be gentle to avoid further frizzing while rinsing.
Soak the wig in a sink again but with cool water and a gentle hair conditioner. Rinse it again after several minutes.
Dab the wig with a towel lightly to remove the excess water and put the wig on a mannequin head or wig stand to let it air-dry. Once the wig is dry, gently comb it with a wide-tooth comb before wearing it.

5. Snip And Trim
If all of the methods mentioned above are out of reach, try to trim the frizzy ends with a pair of hair shears. Snip off all the flyaways that can't be tamed. Like the wig tutorial we mentioned on how to make baby hair, use a cosmetic razor to slowly and carefully cut downward any frizziness.
